not even your yogurt is safe from grocery shrinkage!  Yup, Yoplait Yogurt LOOKS like the old container but as these pictures show, the bottoms are very different! I guess that little ‘package enhacement’ leaves yogurt 2 ounces lighter! Yikes!

Kellogg Co. is using smaller packaging while charging the same prices for five of its cereals sold in the United States, effectively raising their prices for the second time this year. The company started shipping the new boxes to stores in early June. Boxes were reduced by an average of 2.4 ounces for 14 items sold under the Apple Jacks, Cocoa Krispies, Corn Pops, Froot Loops and Honey Smacks brands, said Kellogg spokeswoman Susanne Norwitz. Yikes, Food Shrinkage is all over the place

A Savvy shopper at walmart caught this Sun Chips bag of Garden Salsa shrinkage and snapped a shot!  Thanks for pointing this out to us

Food shrinkage has hit Science Diet as this picture clearly shows, the old packaging use to be 17.5 pounds.  The current item on the stock shelf is for 12 pounds!  Thats a 5.5 pound food shrinkage.  The consumer contacted the manufactor and they had this to say. 

Hill’s® is a significant purchaser of quality ingredients used in the production of our pet foods. In the last several months, the cost of these ingredients has substantially increased. We are passing along a portion of these increases in the form of a product price increase.

We can certainly understand your concern, as we have personally been impacted by rising costs of essential items like gas or food. However, Hill’s® is unwilling to compromise our high quality standards by using less costly, lower quality ingredients or manufacturing methods.

The Wall Street Journal is reporting that some bars and tarvens are serving smaller portions of beer for the same price.  According to the reports, 14 oz glasses are being used instead of the traditional pint size, 16 oz.

In this shot you can clearly see they downsized the Glad Bag Tall Kitchen bags from from 96 to 80!!! Of course the price remains the same, just not the box or the quantity!

Yup, it’s happened again, and this time Sparkle Paper Towels.  I must confess, I’m a weee bit confused how GIANT Roll can b called that when it’s actually smaller then the The Big Roll package?!? right?

Tropicana’s decided to redesign their OJ container and the OJ Jug comes with a fancy pour spout. What they FORGET to mention the 7 ounces LESS of OJ the new container holds! Of course, the price is the same, but the quantity isn’t. *sad*

Just when you think all is right with the world, you find out that Breyer’s has shrunk your ice cream! Of course they don’t lower the price, just the quantity! *tsk tsk* naughty ice cream maker!
